When using Pay by Bank in BrightPay Cloud (via Crezco), the limits and features available depend on your business bank. This article explains:

• Which banks support bulk payments
• How many payments you can include in a bulk file
• Any value limits that may apply

This information is useful when setting up Pay by Bank for the first time, or when troubleshooting rejected or partially processed bulk payments.

1. Bank-level open banking limits

The table below shows the bulk payment limits for some of the main UK business banks connected via Crezco.

Key terms:

• Bulk – A group of multiple payments submitted together in one file.
• Transactions – The number of individual payments per bulk file.
• Single – The maximum amount allowed per individual payment.
• Volume – The maximum total value of all payments in a single bulk file.
• No bulk volume limit – There is no bank-imposed total value limit for the file (standard risk controls may still apply).

Barclays Business

• Bulk payments supported: Yes
• Bulk transaction limit: Up to 50 transactions per bulk file
• Bulk volume limit: Up to £100,000 total per bulk file

Barclays Corporate

• Bulk payments supported: Yes
• Bulk transaction limit: Up to 50 transactions per bulk file
• Single payment limit: Up to £1,000,000 per individual payment
• Bulk volume limit: No overall bulk volume limit (subject to bank risk controls)

HSBC Business

• Bulk payments supported: Yes
• Bulk transaction limit: Up to 25 transactions per bulk file
• Single payment limit: Up to £100,000 per individual payment
• Bulk volume limit: No overall bulk volume limit (subject to bank risk controls)

Lloyds Business

• Bulk payments supported: Yes
• Bulk transaction limit: Up to 25 transactions per bulk file
• Bulk volume limit: Up to £250,000 total per bulk file

NatWest Business

• Bulk payments supported: Yes
• Bulk transaction limit: Up to 3,000 transactions per bulk file
• Bulk volume limit: No overall bulk volume limit (subject to bank risk controls)

Santander Business

• Bulk payments supported: Yes
• Bulk transaction limit: Up to 3,500 transactions per bulk file
• Bulk volume limit: Up to £250,000 total per bulk file

2. Banks that support bulk payments

The following UK banks currently support bulk payments via Crezco. This list covers approximately 80–90% of UK SMEs.

If your bank is not on this list, it might not currently support bulk payments with Pay by Bank. You can still usually make single payments, but you may not be able to submit multiple payments in one bulk file.

3. What this means for BrightPay Cloud users

• If you bank with one of the UK bulk banks listed above, you can use Pay by Bank to create bulk payment runs (e.g. multiple supplier payments or payroll payments) within the limits described.
• If your bank is not listed, you can:
  • Use Pay by Bank for individual payments (where supported), but
  • You cannot use bulk payments and will need to submit payments one by one.

If a bulk payment fails or only some items are processed, check:

1. Whether your bank is in the UK Bulk Banks list.
2. Whether you have exceeded:
   • the maximum number of transactions, or
   • the bulk volume or single payment limits for your bank.
