Pay by Bank is a fast, secure way to pay your employees directly from your registered bank account. Once you've set it up in BrightPay, you can authorise salary and wage payments using Multi-Factor Authentication for added security.
This guide walks you through registering your bank account so you can start using Pay by Bank.
What you'll need
- Access to BrightPay with at least one finalised payslip
- Your UK bank account details
- Your mobile device to scan a QR code or access your banking app
- Your bank's login credentials to authorise the connection
How to register your bank account
Step 1: Navigate to Pay by Bank
In BrightPay, go to Payroll > Select your pay period > Select the Pay icon. You'll see an option to 'Set up Pay by Bank'.
Step 2: Review and agree to the terms
Read the terms and conditions for BrightPay and our payment provider, Crezco. Once you're happy, tick the checkbox to agree and select 'Continue'.
Step 3: Select your bank
Choose your bank from the menu, or search for it by name. All major UK banks are supported.
Step 4: Authorise the connection
You'll see a screen with a QR code. You have two options:
- Scan the QR code with your mobile device, then log in and authorise the connection in your banking app.
- Or select 'Continue to the Banking Site' and log in directly through your bank's website.
Step 5: Complete authorisation on your mobile
Log into your banking app and authorise the connection. You may be asked to enter a passcode or use other authentication methods your bank requires.
Step 6: Return to BrightPay
Once your bank has authorised the connection, close the window on your mobile device and return to BrightPay. The connection is now complete.
Step 7: Create your first pay run
Your bank account is now registered in BrightPay. You're ready to create a pay run and process payments to your employees.
Important
For security, you'll need to use Multi-Factor Authentication to authorise each payment from your registered bank account. Make sure you have access to your registered phone number or email address.
Troubleshooting
I can't see the QR code. What should I do?
If the QR code isn't displaying, select 'Continue to the Banking Site' instead. You'll be taken to your bank's website where you can log in and authorise the connection directly.
My bank isn't on the list. What can I do?
Most UK banks are supported. If you can't find yours, try searching by name or contact our support team for assistance.
